The GWI’s international roundtables are forums where experts – whether from medicine, science, policy, hospitality or spa – come together to drive more wellness in the world. The 2015 roundtable in Wales held with Swansea University seems to have done just that.

The high-level roundtable conversations have spurred a major, multi-million-pound wellness development in South Wales, The Llanelli Wellness and Life Science Village. This is one innovative wellness community with plans for life science and research facilities, an education center to deliver health/wellbeing training, a neuro-village with rehabilitation and living facilities for those cognitively impaired, a wellness hotel, spa, sports and wellbeing center, and possibly a wellness primary school. Bjorn Rodde, the project manager, noted it was, “developed through ideas and innovations discussed during the GWI event” – and plans are to break ground in 2017 and open in 2019.
